Alvaro Salas
Dr. Álvaro Salas-Castro is an expert in public-private partnerships, behavioral economics, collaborative governance and business in emerging economies, especially in the investment field. He has 15 years of experience in the world of consulting, teaching, research, equity investment funds, international business management, and cross-sector alliances. Currently, Álvaro holds the position of CEO/President at the Reynolds Foundation, a philanthropic private family foundation that manages 1 billion USD. He is a Visiting Professor at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York at the Jeb E. Brooks School of Public Policy where he teaches courses in Strategy, Alliances, and Behavioral Economics and Affiliate Faculty of the “Advancement of Research on Conflict and Collaboration” program. He obtained a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations (Universidad Latina) and is a graduate of a law degree (Autonomous University of Central America), has a Master’s degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Economics, Finance and Sustainable Development from INCAE Business School (recipient of the leaders for change scholarship) as well as a Master in Public Administration with an emphasis in Science, Technology and Infrastructure from Cornell University in New York. Additionally, he earned his Ph.D. in Administration and Public Policy at Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs. He became a Presidential Fellow at the Center for the Study of Presidency and Congress in Washington DC, was inducted into the US Phi Alpha Alpha honor society for public policy, and received the Cornell’s Adams Award, Cornell’s highest award.
